an affiliate link is a link that directs a visitor to a product, in which the originator of that link receives a commission whenever that product is then purchased.
affiliate links run the risk of diluting the quality of ones content when that blogger is simply looking to make a commission off a product that they don’t truly endorse.
used the right way however, an affiliate link can generate income for a blogger who genuinely wants to better the lives of their readers through products that they swear by. and there is no variation in price between a blogger’s affiliate link and buying the same product directly from say Amazon.
as of now (August ’16), I have no affiliate links. the items and stories and interviews and videos and books that I link to are simply things that I think should be shared.
